The Debt Ceiling
Currently it’s set at an incredible $14.3 trillion and we are only $400 billion away from hitting it. Truly an unbelievable dollar amount. Now Barack Obama wants to raise it even higher. This is absolutely ridiculous. This issue will be a true test of the Republican Majority in the House and for all current elected officials. We cannot continue to write blank checks with no money to back them up. Congress must put a stop to reckless spending, end all earmarks, and add a Constitutional Amendment to require a balanced budget. The debt ceiling will be a talking point in the weeks to come.
ObamaCare
Up for repeal vote in the House as early as Wednesday. Most people know where I stand on this one. Scrap this piece of junk and start from scratch with a bill that is actually read before being voted on and had input from all sides.
Mark Levin
Chris Matthews last Tuesday joined the chorus of Left Wing Dings blaming Sarah Palin for the tragic violence in Tucson, AZ. Now Levin has put $100,000 on the table if Chris Matthews can produce evidence of Sarah Palin actually promoted the murder of anyone. So Chris…..you still feeling that tingle????

Tragedy Hijacked

The tragic shooting in Arizona has appropriately brought the differences of the political arena to the forefront. However do not be mistaken by the misleading stories of the media. The coward that carried out this tragedy was not a part of the Tea Party. He was not an avid listener of Limbaugh or Levin. His issues with Rep. Giffords were certainly not fueled by an election flyer produced by SarahPAC. In fact reports point back to 2007 as the start of his instability. Yet the Left, following the advice of Rahm Emmanuel, insists upon not letting a tragedy go to waste. They have spent the last week blaming this on Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. They claim the violent rhetoric of the Right prompted this heinous crime. I say hog wash. The Left is just as quick to play the violent card as the Right. What follows are but a few examples.
1 – “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” – Barack Obama 2008 Philadelphia campaign stop
2 – “That Scott down there that’s running for governor of Florida,” Mr. Kanjorski said. “Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him.” – Ex-Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa speaking about 2010 Fla. Gov. candidate Rick Scott
4 – Everyday people on Twitter have begun calling for the death of Sarah Palin via cancer, assassination, etc.
These are just a few examples of how those living in glass houses should throw the last stone. And as can be expected, the Democrats are wasting no time in using this tragedy to push some more of their failed agendas. Watch for the following attempts in the weeks ahead.
1 – Gun control. A particular favorite of the Left and of the POTUS himself. This can also be achieved by simply stopping the supply of available ammunition.
2 – The Fairness Doctrine. Fairness used in the complete opposite of its meaning as it true intent is to silence the conservative critics of the liberal agenda.
The point I would like to close with is simple. There was no command given to Mr. Loughner from anyone on the Right or Left for that matter, to commit an act of murder. It happened at the hand of a deranged, mentally ill individual …….plain and simple. The political cartoon below says it all.

The Flawed Thinking of The Democratic Party

Over this past week 2 bills in the Senate were effectively blocked by the Republicans. The first would have extended the existing Bush Tax Cuts to those making less than $250,000 per couple or $200,000 single. The second was a measure where the income threshold was raised to $1 million. Both were voted down by Republicans and Democrats that want the current tax code extended, at least temporarily, for all taxpayers.
Immediately Democrats on the losing side cried foul. “This is a blow to the middle class…Republicans do not care.”"Extending the tax cuts for all will cost $700 billion.” The last statement is where the flaw lies.
To have such thinking means you have the money in your hands already. They do not. I will even go so far as to state that this goes even deeper. They feel they are entitled to that money. This is wrong.
The money you earn is yours. It does not matter how little or how much you make. This administration has shown time after time that they do not have our best interests in mind when using OUR money. To state that Class A should pay in this much while Class B only has to pay this is nothing short of class warfare.
There is only one way to fix this problem and that is an entire overhaul of our current tax system. We need a consumer based tax put in place that taxes you for what you spend. If you chose to save your money for a rainy day so be it, but if that rainy day comes and you spend it….then you should see a tax. The more you spend the more you pay. Simple, clean and everyone pays in.
This will take a strong candidate and group of like thinkers to push such a fundamental change. I encourage you to do some more research here http://www.fairtax.org

Conservatism Rules the Day

The past few weeks have been simply amazing for the conservative movement. The mid-term elections were vindication for the months of agonizing under the progressive schemes of the left. Voters have spoken and said no to rampant spending that has pushed the deficit from $500 billion to $1.4 trillion. They have said no to government forced health care masquerading in an unread 2500 page bill. They have said no to continued efforts by a President with an extreme ideology of America needing to submit to the whims of other nations.
It is becoming quite apparent that there are much more underlying things occurring that the average person may be unaware of. Did you know that hidden with the Health Care bill is a requirement that beginning in 2011 if you sell ANYTHING for more than $600 you must submit a 1099 form? It’s in there. Are you aware that effective 2012 if you buy gold or other precious metals you will be required to provide your social security number? Why? So the government knows who has the gold. As the Federal assault on the dollar and it continues to weaken, gold and silver are becoming an even much more attractive way to invest your money. The government wants to know where that gold is. A replay of 1933 when FDR required all gold to be turned in under penalty of fines and jail time.
It is time for conservatism to lead the day. That does not necessarily mean the Republican Party. The Tea Party has shown there is a home outside the Republican Party for conservative candidates. This will be a very interesting session of Congress
to observe. Can the Republican Party work with their conservative Tea Party counterparts? Can the Obamacare package be defunded and eventually repealed? Will the Bush tax cuts be extended? Will government spending be curtailed? Can earmarks be banned? Will jobs be created?
Many questions with little time to completely answer them before this country sinks so low it cannot rebound.

Time for Change

The time has arrived in not only Adams County but in the state of Pennsylvania to initiate some real change. The recent debacle of a reassessment managed at the hands of 3 inept County Commissioners is a prime example. The system quite frankly is broken. Far too much burden is placed on the property owner whose responsibility to the system in dollars is determined by someone that utilizes what appears to be an ever changing scale.
This is by no means a problem isolated to Adams County. Problems have dogged the Commissioners choice of Appraisers in almost every county they have “graced” with their services. What makes the situation more painful to our County is that our Commissioners refuse to step up to the plate and make the bold move other Counties have made and place the current Assessment on hold until a true investigation into the numbers can be achieved. Instead, a cat and mouse game of informal and formal hearings are held. To that end the Commissioners have mis-stepped once again in the fact that it appears informal hearings are not legal in the state of PA and in some formal hearings the 3 person board hearing the case is missing a person. Just how sincere are the Commissioners in resolving this issue??
This leads me to the future. What can be done to stop this from happening again? As I mentioned earlier this must be a statewide effort. I encourage our elected officials to introduce sweeping legislation that abolishes our current system of property tax and replace it with a form of consumer tax or Fair Tax as it is referred to. To accomplish this, an increase must be made to the State sales of what I would guess to be roughly 3 percent. Again eliminate the property tax and institute an increased sales tax to replace it. A consumer tax does just what it says. You are taxed on what you consume. Everyone pays into this system not just property owners. Rich and poor, property owners and non-property owners, young and old alike. From the person buying his third Porsche to the child buying a pack of Silly Bands or baseball cards. Everyone making a purchase will pay into the system thus making it a truly fair across the board consumer tax.

Long Hiatus

Sometimes life leads in directions you don’t always anticipate. You think you know exactly what you can and want to do but…..it does not quite happen that way.
Well I am returning to this blog and much has happened since it has sat. Barack shoved through health care, we have a totally unqualified nominee before the Judicial Committee and it’s becoming quite apparent that “job creation” and “stimulus” did not quite fix the world economy.
It is my hope once more to provide some sort of commentary to all the madness in Washington today as well as Harrisburg and Adams County. Speaking of Adams County, congratulations to recently elected Adams County Republican Chair Elizabeth (Betsy) Hower. I know she shares my beliefs in conservative, principal based values. We have already begun making tweeks and modifications to the Adams GOP website. Between there and here this should be a fun ride.

It is 5 minutes before midnight as I write this. Many things have happened this past year to advance conservatism. I predict 2010 will be a huge year for conservatives in public office.
