These are my personal beliefs on what basic principles of conservatism are and why they are good for our country.
1) An economy will function better with tax cuts instead of tax increases. Tax cuts across the board put more money into peoples pocket. The people are more likely to spend thus simulating the economy.
2) Government should be as small as possible and as local as possible. The governments main function should be to protect us not micro-manage our lives. Government at the local level is also much easier to hold accountable for its actions.
3) The basic family structure should be upheld by the government as it is defined today. This includes the definition of marriage as a husband and wife.
4) The sanctity of life must be protected at all stages of life from conception to natural death. There is inherent and intrinsic value in every human life regardless of age, functional capacity (including physical and mental) , stature, ancestry, wealth, or level of education. It bears repeating that all of these apply to life at all of its stages.
